Agbedi Joins Governor to Honour Late Margaret Koroye, Boost Church Building Efforts.

Following the commissioning of landmark projects across the constituency on Friday, 17th April 2026, the Member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D, joined the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, represented by his Deputy, Pastor (Dr.) Peter Akpe, to honour the memory of a revered matriarch, the late Mrs. Margaret Ayi Koroye (née Azazi), who passed away at the age of 89.

The funeral service, held at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in the Peretorugbene Federated Community, attracted family members, political leaders, and well-wishers, including Dr. Mrs. Favor Akoe, wife of the Deputy Governor, who gathered to celebrate a life widely acknowledged for its impact and service to humanity.

Speaking at the event, the Governor, through his deputy, described the occasion as not only a period of mourning but also a celebration of a fulfilled and impactful life. He noted that the late Mrs. Koroye made significant contributions to her community and positively influenced many lives.

The Governor also used the opportunity to reaffirm his administration’s support for the church, particularly in advancing ongoing building projects and enhancing the welfare of the priesthood. In the same vein, Fred Agbedi joined the Governor in providing financial support towards the church building project, underscoring his commitment to faith-based and community development initiatives.

The Governor emphasized that even in moments of grief, it is important to celebrate individuals whose legacies are defined by service, compassion, and enduring values. He further commended the church for its continuous encouragement, support for development initiatives, and commitment to spiritual leadership.

The ceremony featured heartfelt tributes highlighting the late matriarch’s legacy of integrity, kindness, and dedication to human capacity development.

Dignitaries who accompanied the Governor included Hon. Bernard Kenebai, Member representing Sagbama Constituency II in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, and Hon. Mrs. Ebizi Brown, Member representing Sagbama Constituency III, alongside other notable personalities.
