Bayelsa 2027: Sagbama and Ekeremor Forge Unity Pact Over Senate, Reps Seats
As Bayelsa gears up for the 2027 general elections, political leaders and stakeholders in Bayelsa West Senatorial District are calling for a renewed spirit of unity and mutual respect between sister local government areas — Ekeremor and Sagbama. The call comes amid increasing political engagement and early alignments ahead of the polls.
In a message underscoring the importance of equitable representation, Comrade Monday Bestman Stanley, Coordinator of the Sagbama Local Government chapter of the Bayelsa West Unity Forum, reaffirmed the group’s vision of shared political responsibility. According to him, the coming elections present a vital opportunity to reinforce the time-tested bond between the two LGAs.
“For the sake of posterity, and in recognition of the enduring bond between our two sister LGAs — Ekeremor and Sagbama — we must continue to uphold unity and mutual respect as we prepare for 2027,” he stated. “It is our collective belief that Sagbama should take the House of Representatives, while Ekeremor presents a strong voice for the Senate.”
The proposed arrangement, according to Stanley, is aimed at maintaining political balance and fostering development across the senatorial district. He noted that this rotation of key offices would deepen democratic fairness, ensuring that no community feels sidelined in the distribution of power.
The Bayelsa West Unity Forum, a grassroots political group championing cohesion and shared interests between the two LGAs, has long advocated for power rotation as a means of sustaining peace and inclusivity in the region. The forum believes that unity is not just a slogan, but a working principle for governance and development.
Comrade Stanley concluded by emphasizing his commitment to the forum’s ideals. “I count it a rare privilege to serve as the Coordinator of the Sagbama LGA of the Bayelsa West Unity Forum, where our vision remains clear: unity today for a stronger tomorrow.”
