Akassa Clan Council Of Chief Elects New Leadership

The Akassa Clan Council of Chiefs, the highest traditionally Institution in Akassa, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has elected HRH Moses Theophilus-Kenibara the VII, the Ama-dabo of Moko-ama as the new chairman of the Council.
King Theophilus polled One Hundred and Thirty One (131) votes as against his closest rivals, Chief Stephen Ambrose-Moni and Chief Saturday Akimi-Omohuo, who respectively garnered two and three votes in the peaceful contest.

The monarch succeeds Chief Newton Igbani-Okuru of Kongho community after serving the council for two terms. The newly elected executive council comprises eleven members, representing various communities within the clan.
According to the polls, Chief Friday Karikumo-Igoinheiye of Okumbiri-beleu community will serve as vice chairman, Chief Victor Consul-Amahie of Erewebie community was elected as secretary, Chief Mark Enugu-Abobia of Opu-Okumbiri community will be Assistant Secretary while Treasurer position went to Chief Ibidi Onungo Dino-Criston of Minibie community.
Others are Ayibakuro Johnbull-Doimongha of Fishtown community was elected Financial Secretary, Chief Sam Epelle-Godo who hails from Buo-ama community will serve as Public Relations Officer, Solomon Igbani-Harine of Oginibiri community will be provost, Chief Iwotorubo Daru Ambrose-Silver of Buo-ama community is the Auditor while Chief Bartholomew Ayawei-Wolo of Sangana and Chief Jonnie-Suotariga of Minibeleu community will respectively serve as Adviser one and two of the union.
In an acceptance speech, King Moses Theophilus expressed the need for unity amongst members of clan in order to push Akassa clan to an enviable place, stating that he would establish a constitution to guide and regulate the activities of the Akassa Clan Council Chief before the end of 2025.
He called on the ruling Royal HOUSES in the clan to work towards installing an Amayanabo (paramount ruler) for the clan before the end of this year, maintaining that their absence of over two decade has been a huge setback to the clan.
The Ama-dabo of Moko-am vowed to work hand in glove with traditional rulers stakeholders, government, international oil companies operating in the area to advance the unity and overall progress of the Akassa people, saying there is no victor no vanquish in the poll.
The election was observed by notable dignitaries, which include the Speakers of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, RT Hon. (HIGH CHIEF) Abraham INGOBERE, Commissioner for INDUSTRY TRADE AND Investment, Dr. Ebiere Jones and the Brass Local Government Executive Chairman, Hon Lucky Febo, among other dignitaries.
