FRED AGBEDI CONVENES INAUGURAL MEETING AS CHAIRMAN, HOUSE COMMITTEE ON SPECIAL DUTIES, CHARTS ROADMAP FOR LEGISLATIVE IMPACT.

Abuja, Nigeria – Rt. Hon. (Chief) Fred Agbedi, Ph.D, member representing Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, and PDP Caucus Leader in the House of Representatives, has officially commenced his legislative responsibilities as Chairman of the House Committee on Special Duties.

In his first meeting with members of the committee, Hon. Agbedi set the tone for a proactive and purpose-driven tenure, emphasising the need for strategic planning and coordinated implementation of the committee’s mandate. The session focused on reviewing the committee’s objectives and identifying practical approaches to address emerging national priorities requiring special legislative attention.

Hon. Agbedi, a seasoned lawmaker and advocate for inclusive governance, underscored the committee’s role in interfacing with federal agencies on special assignments, interventions, and cross-cutting issues that demand urgent parliamentary oversight. He urged members to bring their experience and commitment to bear in ensuring that the committee remains responsive, effective, and aligned with the broader legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly.

He also reiterated the committee’s dedication to national development through robust engagement with ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as effective monitoring of special programmes and projects designed to improve the welfare of Nigerians.

The meeting marked a pivotal step toward repositioning the Committee on Special Duties as a key driver of targeted development initiatives and legislative responsiveness.
