TIME FOR CHANGE HAS ARRIVED – GEORGE TURNAH RESPONDS TO AGWANANA

George Turnah, Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South South Zone, has called on the Solomon Agwanana led faction of the State Working Committee in Bayelsa State to brace for an unavoidable transformation within the Party. Turnah made this statement through his Media Assistant, Kelvin Loveday-Egbo, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

In reply to a press release from Agwanana’s faction, which accused him of trying to create a division, Turnah asserted that Agwanana’s time was up, emphasizing that change is inevitable. He expressed concern over the Party’s decline due to Agwanana’s poor leadership, underscoring the urgent need to rescue it from potential collapse.

“As leaders of this Party, we must save it from Agwanana’s incompetence and ineffective leadership, which lack fundamental knowledge and skills in Party management,” Turnah stated.

He noted that the Party has been losing loyal and committed members to the opposition due to the current leadership’s failures.

“If Agwanana understood the level of dissatisfaction among Party members, he would see that he and his allies have become mere shadows of their former selves,” Turnah added.

He denied any intention to foster division in the Party but accused Agwanana’s group of promoting factionalism, noting the recent formation and inauguration of a factional Ward Executive in Ogbia Ward 9 by the Agwanana led group.

Turnah urged Governor Diri to be cautious of Agwanana’s deceptive strategies, warning that the Party’s identity is fast eroding under their failed leadership. “Change is here, and it is inevitable,” he added, referencing the disappointing turnout of SEC members at their last meeting, Turnah stressed it was a clear evidence of widespread distrust and dissatisfaction within the party.

The South South Zonal Secretary criticized the hiring of entertainers during the last SEC meeting as a mere superficial fix, warning that Governor Diri is being misled daily by figures like Agwanana and his cohorts, who constantly create the illusion that everything is running smoothly while they continue to milk the State’s treasury dry under the guise of fighting imaginary enemies of the Governor in the Party.

“It may be too late to listen when the head is already severed,” Turnah cautioned, noting the urgency for action before the situation deteriorates further.

He urged party members to unite and work towards restoring the integrity and purpose of the PDP, emphasizing the need for authentic leadership that truly represents the interests of the people. Turnah called on leaders of the party in the state and beyond to recognize the critical moment they are in and push for a new direction that prioritizes accountability and effective governance. JOY IS COMING, Turnah assured.
