NDDC promises more legacy projects in N’Delta

The Niger Delta Development Commission has pledged to continue executing impactful projects aimed at accelerating development and improving the living standards of all ethnic communities in the Niger Delta.

The Managing Director of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, gave this assurance on Wednesday at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt while hosting a delegation of from Ogbakor Ikwerre Cultural Organisation Worldwide, led by its President General, Eze (Dr.) Godspower Onuekwa.

The NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists.

The statement quoted Ogbuku as reiterating that the NDDC was committed to serving all ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He emphasised the commission’s focus on delivering life-changing projects and fostering sustainable development across the region.

“Development can only thrive in a peaceful environment. I urge you to support President Tinubu’s policies and ensure peace in your communities,” Ogbuku said.

The NDDC chief announced plans for more legacy and regional projects, including an ambitious solar-powered street lighting initiative aimed at reducing crime in Niger Delta communities.

“We are committed to lighting up the Niger Delta with solar-powered streetlights, providing security and improving the quality of life,” he stated.

The delegation leader, Onuekwa, appealed to the NDDC to extend its development efforts to Ikwerre land to improve living conditions.

“We have observed your inspiring leadership and commend your accomplishments. Congratulations on a well-deserved appointment,” he said.
