How Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s attempt to mastermind Victor Osimhen’s transfer to AC Milan failed
Former Italian Serie A champions AC Milan attempted to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in the summer, but they failed.
Osimhen’s transfer saga dominated the news during the recently concluded summer transfer window.
Following his impressive performances for the Partenopeans in the past three seasons, the 25-year-old striker was linked with a transfer to some top clubs in Europe.
Arsenal, PSG, and Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for Osimhen. Even Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli were seriously interested in the Super Eagles star, but they failed to secure his services.
After the transfer market closed, Napoli refused to accept Osimhen back into their fold, forcing him to look for a club outside the top five leagues.
The Nigerian striker eventually sealed a season-long transfer to reigning Turkish champions Galatasaray just days after the top fives leagues’ transfer windows closed.
Osimhen made his debut last week and will now be looking to play an important role for them this season as they look to retain their Super Lig title.
Meanwhile, in a recent development, per Di Marzio, AC Milan tried to lure Osimhen in. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who currently serves as a senior advisor at Milan spoke to Napoli and Osimhen to try to lure him in on loan, but the deal did not work out. This is understandable as Napoli would never let their best player leave to their close rivals.
If Osimhen continues with his fine form and scores goals aplenty at Galatasaray, he would likely get his big move next summer.
