“Come up with pragmatic ideas to development Communities” – Hon. Belemote urges Bayelsans
The Commissioner for Community Developments, Bayelsa State, Hon. Watson Alfred Belemote has urged Bayelsans to maintain peace and come up with pragmatic and innovative ideas to help develop communities in the state.
Hon. Watson Alfred Belemote, made this remark on the Radio Bayelsa audience participatory program tagged “TALK TO BAYELSA” said the Douye Diri led Prosperity Government’s developmental vision for strengthening community capacity, socioeconomic and environmental wellbeing, as well as, improve rural community livelihood led to the creation of the ministry.
Belemote reiterated that the Prosperity Government led by the able Governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, and his amiable workaholic Deputy Governor, Sen. Lawrence Ewrudjapkor established the Ministry of Community Developments to tackle the development, implementation and management of community development programs and projects in the state.
He noted that the ministry was carved out of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Development, in order to align with the orientation of the people with the Prosperity Administration in terms of community developments.
According to the Commissioner, the objectives of the ministry is to create peace, tranquillity and harmony, while bringing development in all the communities in the state.
Mr. Alfred Watson Belemote, who highlighted that the ministry is open to interactions with traditional rulers, chiefs, women and youth leaders, said that the ministry will empower traditional rulers and leaders to promote socioeconomic development among the people through participation in it’s activities and programs..
He stated that plans are in motion for a tour on the various communities with the inclusion of the constituency leaders in it’s entourage with the view to interface with the people in town hall meetings.
The aim is to establish a cordial relationship with the people, as well as, have a first hand knowledge and information from the people on their challenges and problems, so as to relay it back to the government for solutions and resolutions.
