Premier League club Liverpool are on the verge of confirming the signing of Nigerian forward Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea.

Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Liverpool have completed the English Premier League’s 5-step investigation process for Rio Ngumoha, paving the way for him to complete his move to the Reds.

The five-step review is a process of investigation conducted before registering any academy player.

Ngumoha took to social media on Wednesday to confirm that he has left Chelsea for good but did not disclose his new destination.

The 2008-born forward rejected a scholarship deal at Chelsea in favour of joining Liverpool’s academy team.

Ngumoha will initially start his career at Liverpool with the U18 squad but he can also be listed on their Premier League roster as an U21 player/scholar.

In his final season as a schoolboy, he appeared in nine matches in the U18 Premier League, scoring one goal and registering an assist, and also debuted for Chelsea’s development squad in the Premier League Cup.

He was invited to train with Chelsea’s first team, under Mauricio Pochettino, at the age of 15, a testament to how highly he is rated by the coaching staff at Stamford Bridge.

Ngumoha joins the Nigeria-eligible trio of Wellity Lucky Omoruyi, Louis Enahoro-Marcus and Afolami Onanuga at the Liverpool academy.
