After Rejection, Chidimma Wins Miss Universe Nigeria
Miss Chidimma, a 23-year-old law student came to Nigeria after accepting to participate in the competition.
Guy Murray-Bruce, President of Silverbird Group, organizers of the competition, announced Adetshina as the winner at the grand finale which was held at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, on Saturday night.
The winner represented Taraba State in the keenly contested competition, which had a total of 25 participants
“I present to you Queen Chidimma Adetshina, Miss Universe Nigeria 2024,” Bruce wrote on his X handle on Saturday.
Adetshina’s journey to Miss Universe started with Miss Universe South Africa. She withdrew from the contest following xenophobic attacks from South Africans.
The South African Home Office also kicked off criminal inquiry on her mother for alleged illegal registration of Chidimma as citizen of the country
When she withdrew from Miss Universe South Africa, Miss Universe Nigeria organizer, Guy Murray-Bruce invited her to contest in her country of origin.
In a series of interviews reported by Naija News, Chidimma said the xenophobic attacks made her cry all night. She regretted that the country she knew as her country turned against her.
The current Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant, also said she was not contemplating returning to South Africa.
On her future plans in Nigeria, Chidimma revealed that she would feature in the next edition of the Big Brother Naija show.
