NFF Acquires Communication gadgets for Referees, To Train Arbiters in the Country on VAR for 2024/25 Season
According to Nigeria Whistlers, This was revealed by the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau who told Assessors in the country during the Pre Season Preparations for the new season today in Abuja at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.
The NFF President further disclosed that the project of equipping referees with the required communication gadgets will start this season as on arrival for the courses,seminar and physical fitness test, they will be introduced to it and the usage will commence for matches.
Alhaji Gusau added that from the young Talent Referees Program participants during the recently concluded MA Course in Abuja, at least ten of them shall be promoted to the Premier League cadre for a pilot project which includes the Video Assistant Referee, VAR, training program either home or abroad.
He said that the Federation is working towards having a perfect system of refereeing by ensuring referees are equipped to meet domestic and international standards.
On another note, he enjoined chairmen and prominent officers of the councils to take time to counsel their referees whenever they are appointed for matches.
