Nigeria legends Okocha and Kanu to join Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea greats for Adebayor’s farewell in Lomé

Former Arsenal and Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is set to celebrate his retirement in grand style with a star-studded jubilee in his hometown, Lomé, from October 25 to 27.

Adebayor, who officially hung up his boots on March 21, 2023, has invited an impressive lineup of football icons to mark the end of his illustrious career.

The event, which will take place at the Stade de Kégué, promises to be a memorable celebration, with around twenty legendary players from Africa and beyond gracing the occasion.

Among the notable names on the expected guest list are Nigerian legends Austin Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu, according to Togo News.

The former Super Eagles stars will join global superstars like Barcelona great Ronaldinho, Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, and ex-Chelsea ace Didier Drogba in honouring Adebayor’s contribution to the sport.

Okocha and Kanu, both celebrated for their exceptional skill and leadership on the pitch, will add a special touch to the event.

Their presence alongside other African greats like Samuel Eto’o and Abedi Pelé underscores the significance of this jubilee, not just for Adebayor but for African football as a whole.

Adebayor’s jubilee will serve as a tribute to a career that spanned over two decades, during which he scored 32 goals in 87 appearances for Togo.

The former Arsenal and Real Madrid forward’s journey through top European clubs and his role in leading Togo to their first-ever World Cup in 2006 have left an indelible mark on the game.
