NPFL25 CLUBS TO DECIDE ON ABRIDGED SEASON AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)

The 20 clubs in the NPFL will today at their Annual General Meeting (AGM), decide on the format of the new season – either a full-scheduled league or an abridged one.

This is because of what top officials admitted as huge financial burden caused by a full-scheduled season of 38 matchdays particularly as the NPFL has yet to attract a title sponsor.

The clubs themselves have been groaning under mounting logistics bills caused by the removal of fuel subsidy and rising inflation in the country.

The clubs have previously kicked against an abridged league because it does not allow for a run of poor results.

The present organisers of the NPFL first ran an abridged season before they reverted to a full-scheduled format this past season.

The NPFL has announced August 31 as the kick-off of the new season.
