Erosion: Ekeremor RDA boss meets Stakeholders over erosion threat to roads, Police station, NYSC building, others

The Chairman of the Ekeremor Rural Development Authority ERDA, Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq on Monday met with stakeholders from the Council over the threat posed by the ravaging flood in the area.

The meeting, which had in attendance, the Leader of the 7th Ekeremor Legislative Arm /Councillor ward 8, Rt. Hon. Benin Benni N Sylvester,, Hon.Pius Jonah, Elder Kekamor Ebimiekumor, Barr. O D Olorogun, MR.Ransome Umokoro, HON.Ebi Afesuku, Hon.Esonmor Desegha

Mr. Daniel Ebimoghan, HON Ebikebena Okorotie and Mrs.Taaimi Owobiri, deliberated on the threat posed by the flood and threat to many basic amenities in the area.

In her brief, Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq, pointed out that there is rising concern amongst indigenes of the Ekeremor Community, which is under the RDA, that they are dire need for an urgent intervention of the State government and Federal Government to stem the ravaging erosion from cutting off the roads linking the health center and another road leading to the Ekeremor secondary school, the NYSC lodge,the Ekeremor Governors lodge , the police station and a link part way to the RDA headquarters.

According to her, if nothing concrete is done soon, ” the high tide or flood comes we would have difficulties in connecting the other part of the town’s and will disrupt the school activities amongst other activities listed above thereby affecting also the economic life of the people loosing connection with the main town amidst other state connection”.

“Pictures of the flood affected and erosion collapsed and subsidence area at the health center and that of the Secondary School Ekeremor was captured for stakeholders to peruse”.

Key members of the Stakeholders expressed support for the call by Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq, on the issue of threat of the erosion and insisted that the flood is about to disconnect the two axis of the Ekeremor community and that it is as a matter of urgency.

“We truly need to act fast in other to pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency Senator Douye Diri who is a governor who did very well by initially awarding the contract to a contractor to work on it but for the death of the contractor.”

“We also call on all other relevant stakeholder in the state and at the Federal level to jointly address this urgent problem of Ekeremor community before the high tide which would cause a great problem for the Ekeremor people.”

” We believe strongly that the government and other relevant stakeholders within and outside the state would respond positively as good governance has always been the order of the day in their style of leadership”.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ekeremor Rural Development Authority ERDA, Deme Debra Pamosoo Esq also informed the gathering of stakeholders that the State Governor,Senator Douye Diri has approved

two projects for the RDAbat inception and they include the renovation of the Ekeremor RDA head quarters secretariat at Temekiri Zion and the renovation of the primary School at Temekiri Zion.

She also announced that Governor Douye Diri have also approved the renovation of 200 meters concrete walkway at Isrealo Zion another community in the RDA with key stakeholders engaged to kick-start the project so as to bring development once more to the door step of the grassroot in the different communities under Ekeremor RDA.

In an unanimous response from all key stakeholders, they commended the leadership of the Ekeremor RDA for rendering progress report so far in the RDA, ” we are grateful to see all laudable and feasible projects done so far at the grass root and it is worthy of emulation to any other leader who is given a leadership position.”

“We want to also thank the leadership for carrying all men, women and youths along right from when she resumed office till date.”
