DESOPADEC Commissioner, Karo Goru Decries The Deplorable State Of Orowhe Public Primary School In Iwhrekan/Edjophe Town Of Ughelli South LGA.
The DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Udu, Ughelli South, Uvwie and Urhobos of Warri South in the board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Jonathan O. Goru , during the evening hours of yesterday Wednesday 21/2/2024, paid an inspectorial visit to the Orowhe Public Primary School located in Iwhrekan/Edjophe Town in Ughelli South LGA.
This inspection was facilitated by the Executive Assistant (EA) to the Delta State Governor on Students Affair, Comr. Okoh Ezekiel Oghenetega PhD., in a bid to draw the attention of DESOPADEC and that of Delta State government authorities to the deplorable plight of the school in term of Dilapidated classroom blocks as well as classrooms without chairs and desks for pupils thereby resorting to pupils sitting on the bare floor.
During the inspection, Hon. Karo Goru learnt that the pupils actually sit on bare floor during classes due to lack of chairs and desks. Many of the classrooms were also found to be without roofs as a result of substandard materials used for the work.
The DESOPADEC Commissioner also used the opportunity in having a Town-Hall meeting at the Community Town Hall with the locals where he fervently admonished them to imbibe the culture of protecting/ maintaining public facilities within their Community.
According to him, “It is your duty as a Community to keep eyes on every public facility built for you by the government since it is the same you the local people that will suffer in the Incidence of dilapidation and damage. Community leaders and the local People should also endeavor to always report every Incidence of substandard public work because this administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori won’t tolerate any iota of substandard job.”
