The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, kick-started the 2nd edition of the Governor Abdullahi Sule Inter-Security Agencies Unity Cup Football Tournament on a winning note.
They rallied from behind to shock the Nigerian Police Force 2-1 in the first Group ‘A’ match decided at the refurbished Lafia City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Charles Dodo had put the Nigerian Police Force in early lead as his side held on to the scoreline heading to the break.
But some tactical changes made in the second-half by the gaffer of the Road Safety team altered the rhythm of the game as the duo of Aliyu and Chidera Nduka each scored in the 48th and 58th minutes respectively to scoop the maximum points.
In the other Group ‘A’ match played in the evening between the Nigerian Correctional Service versus the Nigerian Immigration Service, Ahmed Yakubu and Silas Maneh each netted in the 5th and 60th minutes to take the Correctional Service team to the top of the standings on goals difference ahead of the FRSC.
The Nasarawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme, NAYES, were on standby on day-one of the competition.
Meanwhile, the Department of State Service, DSS, will slug it out with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in the Group B fixture by 2pm on Sunday, 7th January, 2024, at the Lafia City Stadium.
The Federal Fire Service will lock horns with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, later in the day at same venue, in the other Group ‘B’ clash as the Nigerian Army will watch the two action-packed encounters on standby.
