Ex-IYC Spokesman congratulate Gov. Diri, Ewhrudjakpo over election victory
The Former National Spokesman of the Ijaw Youths Council(IYC) Worldwide, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe has congratulated the Bayelsa State Governor, Sen. Douye Diri and his Deputy, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for their landslide victory at the off-cycle November eleventh gubernatorial election last weekend.
Comrade Ekerefe also commend Bayelsans for their peaceful conduct and disposition despite minor hiccups during the poll.
Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe in a statement issued on Friday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, said the overwhelming victory of the Sen. Douye Diri speaks volume and a clear affirmation of the ongoing infrastructural revolution and his humane style of leadership which has permeated into the hearts of Bayelsans.
Ekerefe, who is also the National leader of the New Era Political Movement and a member of the Media Directorate of the State PDP Campaign Council, also commended the Youths for their peaceful disposition and refraining from being used as weapons of destabilization before, during and after the final results were declared.
In his words, “the era for violent politics, thuggery, ballot paper stuffing and subversion of the peoples will is no longer fashionable. I call on politicians seeking the mandate of the people to be retrospective and play by the rules in other to avoid incidences that will lead to violence, killings and maiming during elections.”
Comrade Ekerefe who was a presidential aspirant in the last Ijaw Youth Council national elections commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for their professionalism during the polls and admonished them to do even better in future elections.
Comrade Ekerefe however called on candidates of other political parties and the people of the state to rally round Gov. Douye Diri and his deputy to consolidate on the ongoing development and the progress the state has recorded in the last four years.
