Rangers Appoint Former Monaco Head Coach, Clement As Manager

Scottish Premiership club, Rangers have appointed former Monaco head coach, Philippe Clement as their new manager.
Clement, 49, is replacing Michael Beale, who was sacked earlier this month.
Clement, a former Belgium defender, was himself sacked from Monaco after only 18 months in charge when the club finished sixth in Lique 1.
Described as “the outstanding candidate across all key criteria” by Rangers chairman, John Bennett, new manager Clement was selected after an interview which spanned 10 days and had in attendance “several high calibre candidates”.
The shortlist of candidates was reportedly reduced to two — Clement and Kevin Muscat, the Yokohama Marinos head coach — who is himself a former Rangers defender.
The new manager, who signed a three-and-half-year contract, has a track record of winning trophies, having won the Belgian league three seasons in a row.
Clement said he is “hugely excited by this chance to achieve success at one of Europe’s most iconic clubs”.
New Waves gathered that Clement cut his teeth as a coach when he was appointed as caretaker manager at Club Brugges, a club he had earlier been a player for 10 years.
He however worked as full fledged manager at Beveren and Genks before later returning to Brugges.
In his youthful days, Clement played for Beerschot, Genk and Coventry City. He has 38 caps for Belgium.
