In a bid to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Douye Diri in the sports sector, the Izuo Otuogha Initiative in conjunction with Urbs Global Services Limited present a one day 5-aside tournament tagged “lakeside soccer” to engage Bayelsa youths in meaningful activities.
The 5 aside sand football tournament which will be played with bare foots is scheduled to commence 29th July 2023 at Oxbow Lake, Yenagoa with the winner going home with two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) while second place will receive fifty thousand naira (N50,000) among other consolation prizes such as MVP, Golden Boot and Golden Gloove
The sponsor of the tournament Mr Izuo Justin Otuogha in a statement issued to the press noted that given the recent spread of sports achievements under Douye Diri, the tournament will create a new ambiance and activities at the oxbow lake space.
Mr Izuo Justin Otuogha added that the initiative comes as a major boost to the oxbow lake area as the 5 aside competition will consolidate on the vision of Governor Douye Diri in improving and supporting the immense talent of the state youths.
The one day 5-aside lakeside soccer tournament is the first ever major beach soccer tournament in the state with a total of more than 20 teams expected to register for the record events.
