April 1, 2023
Gbenga Ogunbote, the Chief Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, says his team is on the road to recovery with Wednesday’s win over Plateau United Football Club.
Ogunbote, while reflecting on their 3-2 win, expressed optimism that they would get better if they could win some more matches very soon.
“We now have the confidence to play and things can get better for us if we can win three to four matches in a row,” he said.
Sporting Tribune reports that Shooting Stars defeated visiting Plateau United of Jos in their 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Group A Match Day 11 fixture.
In the game played at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, the visitors took the lead in the 25th minute after a long throw-in by Daniel Itodo was converted into goal by Yakubu Adams.

Samuel Ayanrinde’s brace in the 44th and 52nd minutes swung the game 3SC way, while Ghali Falke scored in the 60th minute to increase the tally to 3-1.
Jimmy Iteji reduced the tally in the third minute of the final added time.
Ogunbote commended 3SC players for their commitment and dedication on the field of play, even as he admitted that the players were under pressure after they conceded in the first half.

“They are already trying to get it right. There was a free flow of balls during the game. But when you are not winning, it takes off your confidence.
“`However, the important thing is, there is nothing too special other than we are trying to get it right and things will soon improve,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fidelis Ilechukwu, the Chief Coach of Plateau United, has blamed the team’s loss on their goalkeeper, promising to work more on their defence line and goalkeeper.
“We believed we would return to Jos with something, but at the end of the day it turned out to be another way round and that is football for you.
“Our hopes of finishing among the top three in the league are being affected with this kind of a loss, but anything can happen at the end of the day.
“We will continue to put in our best in every game,” he said.
