Tems stole 2023 Oscars – Yul Edochie
As the debate about Tems’ ‘view-blocking’ outfit for the 2023 Oscars continues to trend on social media, actor Yul Edochie has applauded her for making Nigeria proud.
Tems, one of the Oscars nominees, attended the event in a flamboyant Lever Couture hooded gown that swirled around her like a trail of smoke.
While she’s been listed among the best-dressed stars at the 95th Academy Awards, some others have, however, knocked for her obstructing the view of those behind her with her dress.
Commenting on the trending topic, Tems, Yul Edochie compared her to his American counterpart, Will Smith who was the buzz of the internet during last year’s Oscar event.
Almost the same time, last year, Will Smith buzzed up the internet for slapping Chris Rock, the host of the 2022 OSCARS, after the comic act made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
For his action, Smith later apologised on stage after picking up an award for his role in King Richard.
However, the Board of Governors for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, voted to ban him from all Academy events including the Oscars for 10 years as part of the consequences for his slap of presenter Chris Rock during the 94th Oscars telecast.
Hailing Tems for placing Nigeria on the global map regardless of the criticisms trailing her ‘show-stealing, view-blocking dress’, Yul urged her critics to attend the Oscars first before faulting her outfit.
He said: “Before you criticise @temsbaby for her Oscar dress, attend the Oscars first. Just like Will Smith’s slap did last year, Tems stole the show this year. Congratulations girl. We’re proud of you. Nigeria is proud of you.”
