This the stomach-churning moment the crown prince of Dubai balanced on a ledge at the top of the world’s tallest building and turned to reveal the city lights 2,717ft below.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed climbed a ladder from an upper floor to a platform at the summit of the Burj Khalifa, before taking a selfie video and turning the camera to expose the skyscraper’s immense height above the streets of Dubai.

The prince, 38, shared the video of his night-time climb, captioned ‘828 metres of excitement’, with his 10.7million Instagram followers.

The UK-educated prince, who is also chairman of the executive council of Dubai, previously climbed to the top of the 160-storey tower in 2013.

The crown prince goes by the name ‘Fazza’ on the social media site, meaning ‘one who helps’ in Arabic.

He later studied business at the London School of Economics and regularly posts videos on Instagram about his adventurous lifestyle.

In 2013, three years after the Burj Khalifa opened, he waved a UAE flag from the top of the building, to celebrate Dubai’s successful bid to host the 2020 Expo.

However, the Expo has had to be delayed by a year because of the pandemic, with the event now due to start in October 2021.

More recently, the prince has shared images of himself exploring glaciers in New Zealand, cycling in Estonia and exploring waterfalls in the Faroe Islands.

An accomplished horseman as well as experienced scuba diver and skydiver, the prince graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2001 and also studied at the London School of Economics.

He became crown prince in 2008, and is expected to one day succeed his father Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to become the ruler of Dubai.

The Burj Khalifa, which opened in 2010, succeeded the Taipei 101 skyscraper in Taiwan as the world’s tallest building.

It also claims the title of world’s tallest structure, a category which includes radio masts and TV towers.
