Buhari commissions $1.5bn Lekki Deep Sea Port
President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned the much-awaited $1.5B Lekki Deep Sea Port project in Lagos.
He arrived at the facility at exactly 4.27 pm in the company of Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The project, according to Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Dr Lola Akande, was initiated by the presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to boost the economy of the state and the country in general.
Buhari stated the project is in line with his Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP) emphasis in supporting game-changing infrastructure projects directed at making an impact on trade and commerce.
Speaking after the commissioning of the project, Governor Sanwo-Olu assured Lagosians of hundreds of thousands of jobs as President Muhammadu Buhari commissioned the Port to commence commercial operations.
The port is adjudged the most modern and deepest seaport in West Africa, offering critical support to burgeoning commercial operations in Lagos State, across Nigeria and the entire West African region.
