A man accused of defrauding a woman of some Sh800, 000 after he allegedly promised that he will get her child football trial has been charged with obtaining money by false pretences.
Shadrack Ateka Omollo was charged before Kibera senior resident magistrate Renee Kitagwa where he denied the charges.
The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on diverse dates between January 31 and August 1 at APA arcade Hurlingham in the Kilimani area within Nairobi county.
She is accused of defrauding Joyce Wairimu Gituro by pretending that he was in a position to assist his son to secure a football trial with Setenese football club in Portugal, a fact he knew was false.
He, however, downplayed the accusations and through his lawyer told the court that he was a law-abiding citizen.
He told urged the court to release him on lenient bond terms since he was not a flight risk.
Omollo also requested that he be supplied with witness statements and documentary pieces of evidence that the prosecution intended to rely on during the entire trial.
Kitagwa released him on Sh300,000 bond with a surety of the same amount.
She directed that the accused person be supplied with all witness statements and documentary pieces of evidence that the prosecution will rely on.
The matter will be mentioned on November 3 for pre-trials.
