Chimamanda to deliver lecture on freedom of speech at BBC Radio 4 Reith lectures
One of four speakers, Chimamanda will deliver the first Reith lecture in this year’s series at 7pm on October 31, at The Radio Theatre, BBC News Broadcasting House, Portland Place, London.
The lecture and question-and-answer session will be chaired by presenter, journalist, and author Anita Anand. The Reith Lectures will be broadcast on Radio 4 from November 30.
The Reith Lectures is a series of annual BBC radio lectures given by leading figures of the day. As part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations, Radio 4 has invited four leading thinkers to deliver lectures on one of Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms – Freedom of Speech, Freedom From Want, Freedom of Worship, and Freedom From Fear.
For her lecture, Chimamanda will explore the theme of freedom of speech.
No stranger to groundbreaking speeches, she has delivered two landmark TED Talks: The Danger of A Single Story (2009), which has amassed over 27 million views to become one of the most-viewed TED Talks of all time, and We Should All Be Feminists (2012)
