A group operating under the aegis of Citizens Awareness Against Corruption and Social Values Initiative, CAACASVI, has petitioned the Federal Government, urging it to review some of the award on some personalities as the fallout from the recent national honors award given to some Nigerians has yet to die down.
In a letter titled “Appraisal and Demand on 2022 National Honours Award,” sent by CAACASVI on Friday to Senator George Akume, Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, with a copy to President Muhammadu Buhari, the organization demanded that the award undergo a thorough review in accordance with the National Merit Award’s current regulations.
According to the CAACASVI Executive Director, the results of the review must result in the removal of some of the honorees’ accolades.
The organization wants Teni, Tuface Idibia, Burma Boy, and Ezra Olubi to have their prize revoked.
It stated that the request is not directed at a specific individual but rather toward attitudes that do not present them as deserving of such an award.
Part of the letter’s request was as follows: “Honorable Minister sir, we hereby request that you initiate the process of this review within fourteen (14) days, in order to right the wrong and to serve as a deterrent and corrective measure to any Nigerian who has the opportunity to meet the president to know that what you have done is wrong and that what you have done is wrong.
“Again, what intuition and what survey led the organizers to believe that Teni is deserving of an award?
“The President’s expression and response to her attitude say a lot.
“Your Excellency Sir, as a previous chief executive of a state, what evaluation will you give to the commissioner if you assign a commissioner to organize an event like this in your state and it goes the way of the 2022 merit award?
We’d want to inform you, sir, that patriotic Nigerians were not pleased with the event, and as a result, we need to make the following demands to stop it from happening again.
