PDP Crisis: Bode George To Atiku: Tell Ayu To Resign
Former deputy national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bode George has asked the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to ask the national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu to resign so that the party can be united going into the polls.
George, who was also a national vice chairman of PDP, stated this when he featured as a guest on the Channels TV political and current affair programme Politics Today.
The PDP chief and Board of Trustees (PDP) who is one of the leaders in the group calling for Ayu’s resignation, said a divided house cannot win the 2023 election, stressing that their demand was not a difficult one to meet.
He said, “There are six top positions in the country as defined by the founding fathers. The number one position is president; number two position is Vice President; number three is position is Senate president; number four position is speaker of the federal house; number five position is secretary to government and number six position is the national chairman.
“Number one and number six cannot be from the same area. In the interest of some interest of the future generations of this country, in the interest of so many other Nigerians who are looking for fairness, justice and equity, why can’t we?
“The onus is on our presidential candidate to talk to Ayu in the interest of balancing and equity, let him just drop. How can we? Just one person creating imbroglio in the party. Why? l just can’t understand it. It is excruciating painful to me to see this massive party that our founding fathers slaves so hard to ensure that we bring about a balancing.”
