#HeadiesAward2022: BNXN Is Next Rated Winner, Dedicates Award To Late Mom
Daniel ‘BNXN’ Benson formerly known as Buju has been named the 2022 Headies Next Rated award winner, at the 15th Headies Award held in Atlanta, United States, on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
The 25-year-old singer beat Ayra Starr, Lojay, Ruger and Zinoleesky to claim the highly coveted prize that came with a 2022 Bentley Bentayga worth over ₦75 million. The 2021 winner of the Next Rated Award, Omah Lay, received a GAC SUV.
In his acceptance speech, BNXN dedicated the award to his late mother who he said died of Breast Cancer.
He also appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was present at the event in Atlanta, to help him with shipping the car to Nigeria from Atlanta because of the cost of shipping into the country.
BNXN, who was previously signed to Burna Boy’s Spaceship Records before going independent in 2021, is a Theatre Arts graduate from Babcock University in Ogun State.
He released his first song ‘Catch a Vibe’ in February 2018. His second song ‘A Day in Lagos’ shot him into prominence on social media before Burna Boy reached out to him in 2020 for a remix of BNXN’s ‘Lenu’.
Lenu remix became an instant smash hit and further shot BNXN into national limelight.
