Olu of Warri’s 1st coronation anniversary ends with thanksgiving

The first coronation anniversary of the 21st Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111, ended yesterday with  a special thanksgiving service.

The thanksgiving service was held at the Palace church in Warri with many dignitaries including eminent sons and daughters of the town in attendance.

Dignitaries at the event included Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege; Sen. James Manager and the Dein of Agbor,  Dr. Benjamin Ikechukwu, former governor of Delta, Chief James Ibori; Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Mr Adewale Adebayo, Speaker, Delta House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr Kenneth Gbagi and Mr. Great Ogboru.

The first coronation anniversary of the royal father, who was crowned on August 21, 2021 at Ode-Itsekiri commenced on Wednesday with various activities.

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, former national president of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) and founder, Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, in his sermon, underscored the importance of thanksgiving, saying it opens the gate to more blessings.

He congratulated Atuwatse 111 on his first coronation anniversary and urged him to continue to lean on God for divine direction to take Warri to an enviable height.

The clergyman said Warri had the potentials of becoming the Dubai of Africa,  if stakeholders and governments  at all levels contributed to the peace and overall development of the city.

“Thanksgiving opens the gate for more blessings, it brings you into the presence of God for divine favour through which, God flavours our labour. If you are not greatful, you will become a great fool. We must learn to emphasise the importance of thanksgiving in our daily life,” he said.

Oritsejafor called for a paradigm shift in the orientation of the youth in the society towards hard work, which according to him is a springboard for sustainable success in life.

Highlight of the Thanksgiving is the prayers for Olu of Warri by Chief Brown Mene; Warri kingdom by Rev. Wilson Ofoluwafor and Delta State/Nigeria by Rev. E. A. Gbiaye.

Chief Roland Oritsejafor, who gave a vote of thanks, expressed appreciation to the guests, well-wishers and the Itsekiris for turning out enmass for the celebration of the anniversary of the monarch.
