Delta State Governor and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday, congratulated the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, on the first anniversary of his coronation.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba, the governor lauded the monarch for making Warri Kingdom peaceful and conducive for investment since ascending the throne.

He remarked that the monarch had, within the period, been instrumental to some economic initiatives to rejuvenate commerce in his domain.

Okowa described the monarch as “a man of peace, bridge-builder with profound integrity,” whose tenure, so far, is already recording positive turnaround in the lives of his subjects and the kingdom.

He commended the royal father for his unwavering support for good governance and his role in awakening the consciousness of people for civic responsibility, and for rallying his subjects in that direction.

He expressed conviction that the monarch is a beacon of hope for his people and encouraged him to remain steadfast on his mission to ensure the people have good life and peace in the state.

“I must commend your dexterity in keeping and managing the culture and tradition of Iwere people by promoting harmony, socio-cultural cooperation, communal living and peaceful co-existence among the Itsekiri and other ethnic groups in the state,” the governor stated.

He urged the king to put God first in all his endeavours, and prayed that the Almighty God would give him long life and good health as he shepherds his people traditionally and culturally.
