We won’t sign African players again – Napoli president, De Laurentiis
Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has said his club will not sign any more African players unless they agree to not play in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Senegal defender Kalidou Koulibaly and Cameroon midfielder Andre Zambo Anguissa missed several games for the Serie A club while on international duty at this year’s AFCON, which took place between January and February.
Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, was ruled out with injury.
“I told them, lads, don’t talk to me about Africans anymore.
“I love them, but either they sign something confirming they’ll back out of playing the Africa Cup of Nations, or otherwise between that tournament, the World Cup qualifiers in South America, these players are never available,” De Laurentiis said according to Football Italia.
