China Cultural Center in Cairo on Thursday announced the start of the Chinese song singing contest “Egypt Sings 2022” or “WeSing” contest.
Egyptians and foreigners living in Egypt are eligible to take part in the competition, and auditions will continue from June 30 to July 18 and from August 1 to August 20, said a statement on the center’s Facebook page.
The contest is divided into two stages, the audition and the finals, the statement said, adding that contestants have to choose from 25 designated Chinese songs.
The jury will select eight contestants for the finals based on their singing, performance, and the popularity of their songs on the WeSing APP.
The first winner will receive a scholarship from the Chinese government if certain requirements are met, or 20,000 Egyptian pounds (nearly 1,063 U.S. dollars).
The second place will include two winners, each receiving 10,000 pounds, and the third place will include five winners, each receiving 6,000 pounds.
