BBNaija ex-housemate Prince says public expectation leads to depression

Big Brother Naija’s ex-housemate, Prince Nelson Enwerem has opined that not meeting up to the public and fans’ expectations could lead to depression.

Prince submitted that many ex-housemates are put under pressure and some even go as far as comparing themselves with other members of their alumnus.

“Some people didn’t get a deal the first year out of the house but the deals they got years after were humongous. It takes a lot of strength and condition mind-wise to be able to stand firm and do what you have to do. If you can’t control what happens in your space you will fall off on the way,” he said.

He noted that although he doesn’t know any ex-housemate who has fallen into depression, the lifestyle and social media could be a tool for depression.

“I can’t confirm that (if any ex-housemate has fallen into depression) because I don’t know anybody who has fallen into depression but it is very possible because as a human being when a lot of people have forced you to make you think that this other person is doing better than you are and sometimes it looks evident because you have seen people sign seven deals and the truth is that you don’t know how much they sign the deals for.

“It might be one million per deal and you have one deal which is like N14 million and you think because you have one deal and the other person has 10, you think you are doing lesser than the person and people are in your ears and because of that you can start feeling sad that you are not doing so well,’ said Prince.

He went further to say, “if you are not able to comport yourself if you are not able to stand strong on what you are doing and know that it’s not a sprint but a marathon, a career that you have to take your time.
