February 03, (THEWILL) – Watford’s official website has released an update on two Nigerian internationals, William Troost-Ekong and Oghenekaro Etebo, ahead of their Premier League match against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, February 5.

Troost-Ekong is one of three Hornets players to return from the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon this week.

Only the Dutch-born centre-back and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi had gone the full distance in all of the Super Eagles’ matches until they were eliminated from the ongoing competition in Cameroon.

So far, Troost-Ekong has appeared in 16 of Watford’s 20 Premier League matches this season, missing their last two games due to international commitments at the 2021 AFCON.

Meanwhile, Oghenekaro Etebo has returned to training and will be tested further in the coming days before manager Roy Hodgson names him in the matchday squad to face the Clarets.

Since suffering a torn quad muscle injury against Newcastle United on September 25, the Stoke City loanee has not played in a competitive match, resulting in his removal from Nigeria’s AFCON roster. Etebo made six Premier League matches, four of which were starts, prior to his injury.

THEWILL recalls that Nigerian international Samuel Kalu joined the Nigerian contingent at Watford, which also includes AFCON squad first-choice goalkeeper Maduka Okoye.
