One of the advantages of shopping in a supermarket during yuletide is the discount benefit on goods.

Lagos shoppers are enjoying the benefits.

A popular mall in Ilupeju, Lagos, has jumped on the trend.

A worker in the mall, who identified himself as Timothy, said discounts were a popular sales tactic during the yuletide.

He said: “Compared to the regular markets, goods in supermarkets are relatively cheaper.

“I wanted to buy a bottle of soda drink at a kiosk and was told the price goes for N150, but here in the supermarket, the price goes for N100.

“A lot of people are coming here to shop for Christmas because of the prices of things here.

“Forget about how the place looks as if it is just for the elite. Anybody can shop in this mall.”

A shopper, Dele, said: “I have been shopping here for years; things here are relatively cheaper than they are in the regular market.

A customer care representative said the mall has had increased sales.

“We are even out of stock for some products because customers are coming to buy things here. There are lots of them,” he said.

A noodle customer care representative said the manufacturers gave discounts.
