Chabalala has spent the better part of the last three seasons on loan to various DStv Premiership sides from Pirates.
CHABALALA IS CURRENTLY ON LOAN TO SEKHUKHUNE UNITED
Having previously been sent out on loan to former PSL club Bloemfontein Celtic in seasons gone by, Chabalala has spent this season on loan at newly promoted GladAfrica Championship champions Sekhukhune United. Pirates, with the likes of club captains Happy Jele, Thulani Hlatshwayo, Olisah Ndah, Abel Mabaso, Innocent Maela and Ntsikelelo Nyauza, would’ve felt like they’re covered at centre back.
PIRATES NOW CONSIDERING RECALLING HIM
However, Pirates are now believed to considering recalling Chabalala from his current loan spell at Sekhukhune United in the January transfer window. This comes after the club have gone through some defensive woes, which have seen some high profile and very costly bloopers and injuries hit their centre back options so far this season.

Pirates lost captain Jele ahead of the Soweto Derby, a fixture they suffered a 2-1 loss in. They also couldn’t call upon the likes of Maela and Nyauza either due to injury. Perhaps what would’ve further compounded Pirates and forced their management to consider recalling Chabalala from his loan, was seeing both Hlatshwayo and Ndah making crucial errors that led to goals in the Soweto Derby.
POTENTIAL REASONS WHY REVEALED
Perhaps, what would make the move strange is that, Chabalala has not been able to hold down a a regular starting spot at Sekhukhune either, but the thinking is that the Pirates management feel they need more centre back cover and that could Chabalala closer to the Buccaneers starting line up this time around.
