Amaju Pinnick Blames Crises As The Reason NFF Is Not 100% Self-sustaining

The Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick, has blamed crises bedeviling his administration as the reasons the federation if not 100% self-sustaining.

Pinnick made the statement during the unveiling of Kwara State Football Association Secretariat in Illorin, Thursday.

He added however that he sees all obstacles not as stumbling blocks but as stepping stones noting that the federation is not worried about the crises

“If not for the crisis befalling Nigeria football, by now we would have been 100% self-sustaining. But we thank God because in the Bible, Roman 8:28, it says everything worketh together for good for them that love God.

“You don’t blame God for anything, you always give thanks to God. And for that reason we always thank God for whatever has happened.

“Your Excellency, we never see anything as a stumbling block, we see them as stepping stones and that is why when you see us, we are always unperturbed, we are never worried because we know we shall get to promised land,” he concluded.

In September 2018, the NFF boss said the federation was 65% self-funding.

According to him, “The NFF budget is about N5 billion and already, we generate a little more than N2.5 billion from our sponsors.

“The Federal Government gives us money for major competitions like the World Cup and African Nations Cup, but we may not need such assistance when we achieve 100 per cent self funding.”

NFF under Pinnick has been and are currently battling various crises such as accusation of corruption with anti-corrupt agencies charging its top officials to court as well as fallout in States FA Election with the most recent being the setting up of a Caretaker Committee to oversee the administration of Anambra State FA board following election that returned Senator Ifeanyi Ubah for a second term.

NFF rejected the outcome of the election despite the result being backed by the electoral committee it had constituted.
