Bayelsà Govt donates 400 life vest for Corps members, assures on safety, welfare

The Bayelsa State Government has strengthened safety measures for Corps Members serving in the state with the donation of 400 life vests to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The life-saving equipment was presented on Saturday, 10th October 2026, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, through the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, Hon. Dr. Wisdom Poyeri.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Scheme, the NYSC Bayelsa State Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, expressed appreciation to the State Government for the gesture, describing it as another demonstration of its commitment to the safety and welfare of Corps Members.

Pepple, who was accompanied by the Camp Director and other key camp officials, noted that the donation was particularly significant considering the riverine nature of Bayelsa State, where waterways remain an important means of transportation to several communities.
He stated that the life vests would complement existing safety measures and provide additional protection for Corps Members whose assignments or movements may require travelling through waterways.
The State Coordinator further commended the administration of the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for its sustained support for the NYSC and interventions aimed at creating a safe and conducive environment for Corps Members to discharge their national service responsibilities.

He assured the State Government that the life vests would be judiciously deployed for the intended purpose while reiterating the Scheme’s commitment to prioritising the security and welfare of Corps Members.
The donation further reinforces the partnership between the Bayelsa State Government and the NYSC in promoting the welfare, security and effective service delivery of Corps Members across the state.
