Bayelsa Queens Secure Semi-Final Ticket in Governor Diri Pre-Season Tourney

Host Bayelsa Queens produced another impressive performance in the ongoing Governor Douye Diri Pre-Season Football Tournament in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, securing a place in the semi-finals.
The Prosperity Girls defeated C2E Sports Academy 3–1 in their Matchday Five encounter played at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Obore Destiny opened the scores for Bayelsa Queens on 57 minutes before Idris Opayemi doubled the advantage four minutes later.

Ohuche Agnes pulled one back for the Abia-based side on 85 minutes, but Kareem Ramata restored Bayelsa Queens’ two-goal advantage shortly before the final whistle to seal a 3–1 victory for Bayelsa Queens.

Reigning Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWFL) champions, Edo Queens and Imo Strikers played out a 1–1 draw in another encounter.
Rivers Angels defeated Ahudiyanem Queens of Abiriba 2–0 in the second game at the Samson Siasia Stadium, with Blessing Ilievida and Chiamaka Nwachukwu scoring in the 8 and 75 minutes respectively.
Bayelsa Queens finished top of Group A with 10 points from four matches, recording three wins and one draw. Delta Queens finished second with eight points, while Edo Queens occupied third position with five points.

In Group B, Ahudiyanem Queens surprisingly finished top with nine points. Nasarawa Amazons came second with seven points, while Rivers Angels ended their campaign with five points from four matches.
The semi-final matches are scheduled to commence on Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Samson Siasia Stadium. Bayelsa Queens will face Nasarawa Amazons at 1.00p.m., while Ahudiyanem Queens will keep a date with Delta Queens at 3.00p.m.
