Ovexco Suites Opens in Bayelsa, Targets Tourism and Hospitality Growth

Ovexco Suites and Apartments has officially opened its doors to guests along the Tombia-Amassoma Airport Road in Bayelsa State, introducing a new hospitality destination designed to provide accommodation, comfort and convenience for visitors to the state.

The opening adds to Bayelsa’s growing hospitality landscape, with stakeholders describing the facility as a welcome development that could support tourism, create employment opportunities and improve accommodation options for residents, tourists and business travellers.

Located along the road leading to the state’s international airport, Ovexco Suites and Apartments offers a range of accommodation options, including single rooms and one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

Speaking on the opening, the Managing Director of Ovexco Suites and Apartments, Oviero Happiness, said the facility was established with a commitment to providing guests with comfort and quality hospitality services.

“Ovexco Suites and Apartments is a top-notch place where you can get comfort because here, comfort is our promise,” Happiness said.

According to the manager, the facility provides luxury rooms, internet access and 24-hour power supply, alongside other services aimed at ensuring a comfortable stay for guests.

The hotel also features 24-hour water supply and solar power infrastructure. Harrison Oteyi, who spoke on behalf of the facility, said the investment includes a 160 KVA solar power system designed to complement the hotel’s electricity supply.

“We are prepared to serve the public. We are prepared to serve our guests. We have a good chef, good rooms and apartments — three-bedroom, two-bedroom and one-bedroom apartments,” Oteyi said.

He added that the hotel’s proximity to the airport was one of its major advantages, giving travellers easier access to accommodation upon arrival in Bayelsa.

Beyond accommodation, stakeholders at the opening said the facility could contribute to the development of tourism in the state.

Bayelsa is known for its waterways, rivers, beaches and cultural attractions, and stakeholders believe that the availability of quality hospitality facilities is important to attracting visitors and encouraging longer stays.

Mary George, a retired Commissioner of Police and Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, described the facility as a significant addition to the state’s hospitality sector.

“The inside is heaven. In fact, you don’t need to travel to London or the US for your holiday. Just come in here and relax,” she said, while commending the quality of the rooms and apartments.

George also highlighted the hotel’s strategic location, noting that its proximity to the international airport could make it convenient for visitors travelling into the state.

“This place today has given an edge to hospitality in Bayelsa State. It’s well located on the road to the international airport in Bayelsa State,” she said.

She added that improved hospitality infrastructure could help Bayelsa take greater advantage of its tourism potential, particularly its beaches, riversides and other natural attractions.

The investment is also expected to have an impact on local employment.

Oteyi disclosed that a significant number of the hotel’s employees are indigenes of Bayelsa State, describing the recruitment of local residents as part of the facility’s contribution to the state’s economy.

“The majority of my staff today come from Bayelsa. So we encourage employing the indigenes from Bayelsa to work with us,” he said.

Also speaking at the opening, Chief Dr. Aloy Okpelogbo, immediate past President-General of Okpe Isoko Kingdom, commended the standard of the facility, describing it as comparable to hospitality developments outside Nigeria.

According to him, the range of rooms and apartments makes the facility suitable for individuals and families seeking a comfortable environment.

“It’s a very distinct development that is commensurate with the ones abroad, overseas,” Okpelogbo said.

He also commended the facility’s security arrangements and encouraged other entrepreneurs to invest in similar developments across the country.

With its strategic location, variety of accommodation options, power and water infrastructure, food services and employment opportunities, Ovexco Suites and Apartments is positioning itself as a new player in Bayelsa’s hospitality industry.

As the facility begins full operations, its management hopes to attract tourists, business travellers, families and other visitors while contributing to the broader development of tourism and hospitality in Bayelsa State.
