65th Posthumous Birthday: Children Celebrate Late Captain Okunbo
Those we love never truly leave us, there are things that death cannot touch and that’s love and memories shared but penultimate Saturday, torrents of tributes poured in from family, friends, associates and well-wishers to celebrate the 65th posthumous birthday of a global icon, an illustrious leader, a father, business mogul, philanthropist, industrialist, a humanist, a brother and grandfather, late Capt (Dr) Idahosa Wells Okunbo, (JP).
Captain Idahosa or “Cappi” (as he was fondly called by family and friends), died on Sunday, August 8, 2021, and was buried on Friday, October 9, 2021, in Benin City, Edo State. He was born to a distinguished clergyman and community leader, who imbued the values of community service and benevolence in him. He rose from these humble beginnings to become a great Iroko tree that sheltered the lives of many.
On the occasion of his 65th posthumous birthday, his children penned a touching tribute to him, in a statement they personally signed and in some newspaper adverts.
While alive he served as chairman and director on numerous company boards in Nigeria, spanning multiple business sectors such as the agro-allied, petroleum, telecommunications, power, real estate, and banking industries.
