2Baba donates recording studio to OAU
2Baba, the award-winning Nigerian singer, has donated an ultra-modern recording studio to the music department of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
The singer announced the donation in a post shared via his Instagram page on Tuesday shortly after the project was commissioned.
In a video accompanying the post, the 46-year-old was seen interacting with officials and students of the varsity inside the studio.
2Baba, whose real name is Innocent Idibia, appreciated the management of the institution for earlier inducting him into its school of music.
He also revealed plans to build a similar studio at the Benue State University (BSU).
“Sometimes ago, I was honoured by the Great OAU as I was inducted into the school of music as a fellow of the school of music. Today, I just commissioned the multimillion naira studio I built for the music department in OAU ile-ife. Up next is Benue State University,” he wrote.
The musician shared a picture of himself and Eyitope Ogunbodede, OAU’s vice-chancellor, after the studio was commissioned.
With numerous awards and recognition, the ‘African Queen’ crooner has established himself as a household name in the Nigerian music landscape.
He has also been vocal about issues affecting the socio-economic development of the country.
2Baba recently advised youths to re-evaluate their value system.
