15 years of consistency gave him the spotlight.

Yesterday was Ojude Oba, an annual cultural celebration in Ijebu, Ogun State, in the western part of Nigeria, that honours tradition, culture, royalty, and community.

But in recent years, something interesting has happened.

Ojude Oba has always been grand, but a single moment shifted the entire narrative and it all started through the lens of a camera.

In 2024, a photographer, Folastag, captured captivating photos of Mr Farooq Faq Oreagba at the festival. His elegance, poise, and charisma lit up the internet. He was labelled “The King of Steeze”

Suddenly, everyone wanted to know: Who is this man?

We found out he’s a cancer survivor, the CEO of NG Clearing Limited and a proud Yoruba man who has attended Ojude Oba for over a decade.

In his recent BellaNaija interview, he shared:
“I’ve been attending Ojude Oba for 15 years. When the virality came, I didn’t do anything special. I just did my usual thing.”
This year marks his 16th Ojude Oba, and once again, he showed up. As usual. As always.

And that’s what I want you to hold on to:
He didn’t chase the moment. The moment met his consistency.

He didn’t force virality.
He didn’t do it for the cameras.
He simply showed up, with excellence, year after year.

Until that one photo changed everything.

That’s the true power of consistency.

When that photo went viral, he had fewer than 3,000 Instagram followers and his profile was private. Today, he has over 140,000 followers on Instagram alone.

His content now carries structure, intentionality, and impact.

And more than just numbers, he has landed brand ambassadorships, collaborations, media interviews, corporate opportunities, and has become a living symbol of pride, poise, perseverance, and “steeze”

I love the fact that he didn’t just go viral, he built something with it.

How many people have gone viral, did nothing with it, and are now forgotten?

But not Mr Oreagba. He took advantage of his peak moment and used it as a launchpad for something enduring. That’s what sets him apart.

Today, Mr Oreagba’s story has inspired a new generation. His son and countless Gen Zs are now proudly engaging with Ojude Oba, its traditions, and the beauty of Nigeria’s cultural legacy.

Personally, I admire his finesse, his articulation, his eloquence, and his intellect. He is a true modern man who embodies both tradition and excellence.

It’s a new week.

Don’t just post. Be present.
Don’t chase viral. Build value.
Your consistency is your strategy.

So today, I’m asking you:
What are you showing up for this week, even when no one is clapping yet?
