I had the honour of accompanying my boss, the Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where he delivered a powerful lecture on “Ethical Leadership, Security, and Sustainable Development” in a ground breaking event by The Ethics, AI and Higher Education Strategy Team (EAISTRAP), University of Nigeria.
For me, it was more than an official visit, it was a return to where my journey in policy and innovation truly began.
Driving and walking through the campus brought back a wave of memories especially as we visited the Department of Economics, where I first began to shape my interest in public policy.
As the pioneer manager of Roar Nigeria Hub and Lion Science Park – Nigeria’s first university-embedded innovation hub and science park respectively – UNN was the launchpad for my commitment to building inclusive innovation ecosystems and driving policy-led development. It was there that I first caught the vision of creating innovative environments that empower people to think, build, and lead.
During our visit to the Department of Economics – my department -we explored opportunities for meaningful collaboration, aimed at equipping the next generation of economists to become innovative, solution-oriented policymakers and development leaders. It was deeply inspiring to connect with faculty and students who are eager to drive lasting impact.
As Mr. Governor aptly put it:
“To all my fellow Lions and Lionesses out there, let’s roar together to rescue our beloved Lion’s Den and take UNN to greater heights.”
It’s a call I wholeheartedly share. I’m proud to give back to the institution that gave me my start.
Remember, you can give back in so many ways, define your strategy and engage. Collectively, we can achieve so much.
Grear Super Lions and Lionesses!!!
